Welcome to Bernard Chill & Axtell Solicitors

Established more than sixty years ago Bernard Chill & Axtell is a progressive six Partner Law Firm with Offices in the Centre of Southampton and at nearby Eastleigh.  We specialise in serving the private client and small to medium size businesses.

OUR AIM

As the greater part of our work comes from existing clients, or from recommendations we have long recognised that satisfied clients are the best kind of advertisement our firm can have.

Satisfaction is achieved by:-

  1. All work being carried out by highly qualified Specialists.
  2. All departments of the firm being headed by a Partner, having day to day control over all matters within that department.
  3. A Policy in dealing with all work as quickly as possible.
  4. Wherever possible giving written estimates of the likely cost involved in matters as well as an estimate of how long they are likely to take.
  5. A recognition that each matter is of the greatest importance to the client who should be helped throughout to understand what is happening and why.

STANDARDS OF WORK

This firm was one of the first in the Country to be awarded a Legal Aid Franchise whereby the firm's procedures were independently analysed and checked for quality assurance.  These standards are maintained and regularly audited.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The firm has a sophisticated Computer system operating in all Departments to enable us to deal with client's matters quickly and efficiently.

CLIENT CARE

Upon receiving instructions you will be advised which of our fee-earners will be dealing with your matter.  All services offered on the Internet are either carried out, or supervised, by the Partner who heads that Department.

As with any Organisation which considers client care important, we have our own procedures for dealing with any aspects of our work with which you are not entirely happy.  Your concerns should, in the first instance be addressed to the Partner responsible for the Department involved.  If you are still dissatisfied then the problem will be referred to the Senior Partner, Jonathan Coppen, who will look into the matter and report back to you.

Information given on the Questionnaires on this site is protected by a secure server and communications both ways are encrypted.  However, should you not wish to give credit card information over the Web, you may telephone us with credit card details, or send a cheque in the post.

Instructions are only accepted when we send you confirmation of acceptance and then upon the understanding that you have read all available material on the services we offer and our firm.  You will understand that where the Internet Service is offering an "off the peg" service at a fixed price, then we are not offering advice.  In many cases the information you provide will be merged into the document you require, and any mistakes in that information may well result in a mistake in the document, in which case we cannot accept responsibility for such errors.

Nothing in these pages is to be taken as constituting legal advice and the contents of this site, and all documents prepared, deal only with the law as it applies in England and Wales.
